Introduction
AnyShot ("we," "us," or "our") is a Chrome extension for full-page screenshot capture, annotation, export, and optional temporary sharing. This policy explains what is processed when you use the extension and the AnyShot sharing viewer.
What Data We Collect
Capturing, editing, and exporting a screenshot happen on your device. AnyShot uploads a screenshot only when you choose Share.
The extension can keep up to five recent captures on your device for up to 24 hours, subject to a local size limit. It does not attach the source page URL or title to those captures, and you can remove them from the popup.
Annotation drafts, current-link controls, review-prompt preferences, and successful-action milestones are stored locally in the extension. These local values are not sent to AnyShot analytics.
When you use Share, AnyShot may process the following data:
- The screenshot image you explicitly choose to upload.
- Share metadata including a random link code, image dimensions, file size, creation time, expiry time, deletion status, and access count.
- An anonymous Firebase user identifier used to authorize upload and deletion requests.
- A one-way hash derived from your network address for short-term daily abuse limits. The raw address is not stored in AnyShot's database.
How We Use Your Data
We use collected data to operate and improve AnyShot, including to:
AnyShot does not store the original webpage URL, page title, or browsing history associated with a capture.
Shared links are unlisted, not access-controlled accounts. Anyone who receives an active link can view its screenshot until the link expires or is deleted.
- Store and serve shared screenshots.
- Authorize share creation and manual deletion.
- Enforce file-size, user, network, and service-wide sharing limits.
- Measure aggregate link access for reliability and abuse prevention.
Data Retention
Shared screenshots and their links expire after 15 days. The scheduled cleanup process removes expired image objects and marks their records deleted. You can delete the current shared copy earlier from the editor. A short-lived image URL already issued before deletion can remain valid for up to about five minutes.
Pending upload access expires after about 10 minutes. Internal upload reservation records are removed after the related 15-day share window, and deleted screenshot/link tombstones are removed after an additional operational window of up to about seven days. Daily abuse-limit records are scheduled for removal after approximately three days. Inactive anonymous authentication records are scheduled for deletion after approximately 30 days.
Third-Party Services
AnyShot relies on the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase Authentication for anonymous authorization when you choose Share.
- Google Cloud Functions, Firestore, and Cloud Storage for share creation, abuse controls, temporary image storage, link resolution, and deletion.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information, use screenshots for advertising, or share uploaded screenshots with unrelated third parties. Anyone who has a valid share link can view that screenshot until it expires or is deleted.
Data Security
Client access to screenshot storage and link records is blocked. Uploads and image reads use time-limited signed URLs, and share creation is controlled by authenticated server endpoints with size and rate limits. No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to request:
- Access to your personal data.
- Correction of inaccurate information.
- Deletion of screenshots and anonymous account-related information where applicable.
- Objection to certain processing activities.
- Portability of your data to another service.
Children's Privacy
AnyShot is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page along with an updated "Last updated" date.
